Plainfield, Ind. — Poag Shopping Centers has begun an $11.1 million redevelopment of Metropolis Lifestyle Center, a 600,000-square-foot retail center located in Plainfield.

The center will be renamed The Shops at Perry Crossing, and is home to 44 stores and restaurants including Dick’s Sporting Goods, JC Penney, Barnes & Noble, Old Navy and Carmike Cinemas. The central public plaza will be repurposed into a town square with the addition of public green space, fountains, a gazebo and seating. Woolpert will provide design and engineering services for the project. Construction began in July with a grand reopening planned for fall.
