Clearview Shopping Center Owners Acquire Adjacent Sears Site, Plan Redevelopment

Metairie, La. — The Richards family, owners of Clearview Shopping Center in Metairie, has acquired the Sears property located adjacent to the retail center.

The Richards family has owned the Clearview site, located six miles outside New Orleans, since 1968. The acquisition of the 200,000-square-foot Sears property —which includes an auto service center — is the first step in a planned, multi-phase redevelopment of the shopping center. Sears will continue to operate as a department store, though the owners plan to incorporate a smaller store format as part of the redevelopment. In addition, the Richards family plans to develop two outparcels at the center. With the acquisition of the Sears site, Clearview Shopping Center’s square footage totals more than 750,000 square feet. In addition to Sears, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target and a newly remodeled AMC Theatres anchor the center. Additional tenants include Zea Rotisserie & Bar and Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar. The Richards family has retained Kirsten Early of SRSA Commercial Real Estate to handle the center’s leasing efforts.
