Laguna Hills, Calif. — The mixed-use redevelopment will be complete in 2016.
Laguna Hills, Calif. — The city of Laguna Hills has approved the entitlement package for Nadel Architects to redesign six buildings for Oakbrook Village, a shopping center that was built during the 1980s. The development, owned by Fritz Duda Co., will be transformed into a mixed-use project that will be complete in 2016 and costs upwards of $90 million.
Oakbrook Village is situated on a 20-acre site near the 405 Freeway. The center includes 132,200 square feet of retail and a 483,837-square-foot multifamily building. Marshalls and Trader Joe’s anchor the property. Additional tenants include Calico Home, Roadrunner Sports, El Torito Grill and Woody’s Diner.
For the retail component, Nadel will demolish current retail space that will be replaced by a mixed-use apartment building. All of the current tenants will be relocated and the company will renovate the exterior of the remaining retail to accommodate space for additional restaurant and retail pads. The redesign will also incorporate plazas, fountains and community gathering places.
