Stirling Plans 107,000-square-foot Center in New Orleans

New Orleans — Covington, La.-based Stirling Properties has closed on a land purchase along the North Carrollton Avenue commercial corridor in New Orleans that will allow the company to develop a 107,713-square-foot neighborhood city that will open over the next few years. A 53,000-square-foot Winn-Dixie will anchor Mid-City Market, which will be built on a blighted site along Carrollton Avenue.

"Another step in the city's recovery is being represented by redeveloping a blighted site into one of the city's premier retail environments," said Townsend Underhill, vice president of development for Stirling Properties, in a statement.

Stirling is demolishing the former Bohn Ford dealership to build the Winn-Dixie. Stirling will also construct three new buildings on the site and renovate an existing building to create space for retail and restaurants. VergesRome Architects is designing the center, and Donahue Favret Contractors is the contractor. The first phase of the center is expected to open in the first quarter of 2013.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
